Artworks 2013 - 2016 In 2011, I revisited the use of knitted materials, particularly crochet, in my artwork, which I had first experimented with in the mid-1990s. By 2015, I began to see mandalas, symbolic representations of the universe in Hindu and Buddhist cultures, in my crochet work. Mandala, derived from Sanskrit meaning "circle," embodies the visual manifestation of the universe. I incorporated concentric crochet structures as a representation of a domesticated mandala and a tribute to the often unrecognized labor of women. The series of works titled "Venus of Willendorf" emerged from my earlier project "Life_Self-organizing," which commenced over 20 years ago when I first began to witness how life on Earth sustains itself through interconnected relationships. At that time, my work did not have a specific title, as I was in the initial stage of wonder and exploration. While all phenomena intrigue me, light/color and space/void have been the central focus of my artistic interest.

"Light" is a medium. Colors are never absolute. Physical light is always one of the important media in my work. With the physical light added to my work, the colors arrive at their complete status.
