Artworks 2013 - 2016
Between 2013 and 2016, my artworks took a turn towards knitted materials, particularly crochet, a technique I initially experimented with in the mid-1990s. By 2015, I started incorporating mandalas into my crochet pieces. Mandalas are symbolic representations of the universe in Hindu and Buddhist cultures, embodying the visual manifestation of the cosmos. In my work, concentric crochet structures became a way to represent a domesticated mandala and pay tribute to the often overlooked labor of women.
The series titled "Venus of Willendorf" evolved from my earlier project "Life_Self-organizing," which began over 20 years ago when I started observing how life on Earth sustains itself through interconnected relationships. Back then, my work didn't have a specific title, as I was in the early stages of wonder and exploration. While I find all phenomena intriguing, my artistic focus has consistently revolved around light/color and space/void.

"Light" is a medium. Colors are never absolute. Physical light is always one of the important media in my work. With the physical light added to my work, the colors arrive at their complete status.
